Methods: The method of the research design was semi-experimental and pre-test-post-test with a control group. The research sample of 34 patients with multiple sclerosis in Tehran, who were 1 standard deviation below the mean in the happiness scale based on the acquisition of scores, were selected from among the patients of medical educational centers and private neurology clinics using the available sampling method. They were randomly assigned to intervention and control treatment groups and responded to the Oxford Argyle (2001) happiness test. The experimental group underwent group therapy based on spiritual therapy for 8 sessions, but the control group did not receive any treatment. The research data were analyzed using the one-way analysis of variance test. Findings: The results of the research indicated that spiritual therapy had an effect on the dimensions of happiness of multiple sclerosis patients, so that spirituality therapy had an effect of about 40% on the happiness of multiple sclerosis patients. Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that in the field of treatment of chronic physical diseases, emphasis on spiritual therapy and giving meaning to their lives can reduce the severity of the disease to a great extent
