Background and Objectives: Adherence to antiretroviral therapy is critical for achieving and maintaining favorable outcomes in HIV-positive patients. The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the role of religious faith in adherence to regular medication use among HIV positive patients in Kermanshah.
Materials and methods: This descriptive study was conducted among 147 HIV-positive patients in Kermanshah. The participants were selected by convenience sampling among HIV-positive patients with active records in behavioral disease centers of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences. The data were collected by a written questionnaire and by interviewing the patients and analyzed in SPSS version 16 statistical software.

Marital status (beta = 0.234), and religious faith (beta = 0.164) were the most important influencing determinants on adherence to regular medication use. The correlation between the religious faith and adherence to regular medication was positive and significant (r=0.184 and P=0.026).
